Do I need a labiaplasty?

Elite Transformations is pleased to offer women a selection of surgical and nonsurgical means to achieving a beautiful body. However, have you ever considered improving the appearance of the labia? Every vagina is different, but some women are self-conscious about the appearance of their vaginal lips. These include the labia majora and the labia minora. These lips are located around the vaginal opening and vary in size and shape.
Do I need a labiaplasty?
In most cases, labiaplasty is performed as a cosmetic procedure. Women often want a tighter vaginal appearance, especially if they have long or large vaginal lips. However, there are a few times when a labiaplasty may be for more than just aesthetics. If melanoma or skin cancer is found in the area, labiaplasty may be recommended to the patient. This is very rare and often doesn’t come about too often. Alternatively, women may undergo labiaplasty if their vaginal lips are impacting their life. For example, the lips may be long enough to cause pain during sexual intercourse if they are folded into the vagina. This rubbing can be uncomfortable and can be resolved with surgery. Additionally, women who have large or long labias that cause discomfort or irritation while walking, running, or wearing swimsuits, may consider treatment with a labiaplasty.
What can I expect from labiaplasty?
The labiaplasty is performed at the office of Dr. Orna Fisher of Elite Transformations as an outpatient procedure. Patients will often have local anesthetics or may choose to be fully under with general anesthesia. Proper sedation is used to ensure patients are comfortable when they arrive and throughout their surgery. The procedure can leave the vaginal area sore and swollen, so women should wear loose clothing for a few days and relieve discomfort with warm sitz baths until the area heals more. Patients will visit Dr. Orna Fisher for a follow-up appointment to ensure the area is healing as expected and the desired results have been achieved.
