Preparing for Breast Augmentation Surgery
- Posted on: Mar 30 2017
Making the decision to undergo breast augmentation is a big one. You’ve likely given it much thought. So now that you’re ready to take the next step, you’ll want to know just what to do to make a recovery as safe, speedy and comfortable as possible. To help you prepare for this life-changing event, begin by checking out some common “do’s” and “don’ts” when it comes to breast augmentation surgery:
DO
- Bathe before surgery. Your doctor will likely provide you with Hibiclens, a special soap that’s meant for surgical procedures.
- Make arrangements for a friend or family member to bring you to and from the surgical center
- Gather a strong support group of people who have the patience and time to care for you, particularly during the first 48 hours post-surgery.
- For two weeks before surgery, abstain from taking medications that can thin your blood such as aspirin, Advil, and Ibuprofen.
- Have your prescriptions filled in advance and don’t forget to bring them with you on the day of surgery.
DON’T
- Eat or drink anything after midnight the night before your surgery. The anesthesia you will be given can cause nausea, so it’s important for you to come to your appointment with an empty stomach.
- Consume too much alcohol the night before. Having a glass of wine to calm your nerves is fine, but overdoing it is not a good idea.
- Wear makeup or jewelry to your appointment. And wear glasses instead of contacts if applicable.
- Wear clothes that are too snug. Loose-fitting items are best, especially those that fit over your head or zip up the front.
- Undergo breast augmentation surgery for anyone expect yourself.
